Creations bested redemptions by a factor of over 1.2 to 1 per data from ETF.com. On the creations side inflows were not as skewed as has been typical of recent weeks and months. The single largest inflow was to the iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (IEMG) at over 17.8% of creations. Financials (XLF) were next in line at over 11.7% of inflows. Bonds and fixed income products were over 29% of creations. Those funds were the Vanguard Intermediate-Term Corporate Bond ETF (VCIT), iShares MBS ETF (MBB), and Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND). On the redemptions side there was decidedly more of a skew with the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) making up more than 30% of outflows. The SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) was the next largest single fund outflow at 12%. S&P 500 funds including the SPY made up over 41% of outflows. That group included the Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLC) and Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP). Bonds also saw notable redemptions at over 15% of outflows. Those funds were the iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) and iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT).
